Cost per click (CPC) is the amount you pay each time someone clicks your Google ad. You set a maximum, but you usually pay less: just enough to keep your position above the next advertiser.
Business owners often tell us the clicks are "too expensive". Usually the real problem isn't the price of the click but what happens after it. A RM5 click that turns into a WhatsApp enquiry 1 time in 10 is a far better deal than a RM1.50 click that never converts.
Before we touch bids, we work out the most a client can afford per click from their own sale value and close rate. Some of the most expensive clicks we've managed were in industrial supplies like warehouse racking and in made-to-measure home furnishings, and they were still profitable because each customer was worth so much.

A renovation company in Johor Bahru spends RM1,500 in a month and gets 500 clicks. Its average CPC is RM1,500 ÷ 500 = RM3.
Whether RM3 is "good" depends entirely on what happens after the click. If 1 in 20 clicks becomes an enquiry, each enquiry costs RM60. If an average job is worth RM8,000, that's an excellent deal. If the company sells RM50 items, it isn't.
Cheaper clicks often come from less specific keywords, which bring less ready-to-buy visitors. What matters is the cost per lead or sale. A RM6 click that converts 10% of the time beats a RM2 click that converts 1% of the time.
The useful question is: what's the highest CPC I can afford? That depends on your sale value, profit margin, close rate and conversion rate, which is exactly what our break-even CPC calculator works out.
Use Google's Keyword Planner (free inside Google Ads). The "top of page bid" range gives a realistic estimate for each keyword in your chosen country or city.
Common causes are a new competitor, seasonal demand (for example, before Chinese New Year or Black Friday), a drop in Quality Score after changing an ad or landing page, or a switch in bidding strategy.
