Why convert WebP to PNG?

Many images you save from websites now come as WebP, because it loads faster. But not every app or platform accepts it yet. Converting to PNG is the simplest fix when:

• An upload form only accepts JPG or PNG. Google Ads image assets, for example, accept PNG, JPG and static GIF, but not WebP.
• Older design software or document editors won't open the file.
• You need to edit the image and keep it lossless while you work on it.
• The image has a transparent background, such as a logo, and you need it to stay transparent.

PNG or JPG: which should I convert to?

Choose PNG for logos, icons, screenshots and anything with transparency or sharp text. Choose JPG for photos, because PNG versions of photos can be several times larger. If you need a photo in JPG, use our WebP to JPG converter.

Will the PNG be bigger than the WebP?

Usually, yes. PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel exactly, while WebP is designed to be small. That's normal and doesn't mean quality was lost. If file size matters, resize the image to the width you need before converting.

Does it work with animated WebP?

Only the first frame is converted, because PNG images are still images.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?
